Canaway

Welcome to Canaway, where sustainability meets second chances. We’re more than just an aluminum can recycling company—we’re a mission-driven organization committed to keeping the Earth clean and creating a better future for everyone. While we work to reduce waste and promote environmental responsibility, we also believe in the power of redemption and opportunity. That’s why we proudly hire individuals who have faced challenges such as incarceration, substance use, or homelessness—providing stable employment, support, and a fresh start. Together, we’re building a cleaner planet and a stronger, more inclusive community—one can and one life at a time.

DID YOU KNOW?

Aluminum takes 200-500 years to degrade in a landfill.

WHY IT MATTERS…

Aluminum is one of the only materials used to package beverages that can be infinitely recycled and reused. It’s one of the only materials that does not lose quality of its properties after being recycled. Almost 75% of all aluminum that has EVER been produced is still in use today!

As part of our efforts at Canaway, we believe in the 60 day can-to-can lifecycle. This means that by the time a can reaches the recycling, it should only take 60 days for the full process from start to finish. This includes sorting, melting down, casting, rolling, and ultimately manufacturing and producing another aluminum can. Sound like a lot? It is! But the benefits of recycling greatly outweigh the cost of sourcing new aluminum. New aluminum requires a great amount of time and resources that puts a major strain on our environment. Aluminum production also produces significant amounts of greenhouse gases. Recycling aluminum reduces the amount of resources being consumed as well as reducing green-house gas emissions. And if that wasn’t enough to make it matter, every can that gets recycled is another can that is kept off our planet. At Canaway, we believe in sustainability and this is just one of the many ways we are working to support our mission.

We take plastic and cardboard too!

Although plastic bottles don’t have the infinite recycling capabilities that aluminum cans have, it’s still just as important to us that we recycle plastic too! Recycling plastic saves energy, reduces pollution, and helps keep our Earth clean while protecting our wildlife.

Last but certainly not the least is cardboard. Did you know recycling cardboard not only reduces deforestation but also helps combat climate change? When cardboard is left in landfills, it breaks down and releases methane gas - a contributor of climate change.
